The collaboration was born from a desire to combine the distinctive expression of an emerging designer with Finsket’s bold and sustainable design philosophy. The collection features patterns by designer Teija Vartiainen, bringing a captivating touch to unisex-sized garments. This collaboration is the result of the YFD x Paapii & Finsket pattern design competition, aimed at highlighting new talent. The Young Finnish Design (YFD) competition offers young designers the opportunity to see their patterns brought into commercial production in partnership with Finnish companies. Its goal is to strengthen Finnish design expertise and introduce new voices into the field of Finnish design. Through the competition, Finsket and Paapii created individual collections for the winners, based on their original pattern families. On the Paapii side, the Emma Myllynen x Paapii collaboration collection will be launched on October 3, 2025.
“It’s a joy to highlight new designers and see how their ideas are transformed into Paapii and Finsket garments. The YFD competition brings us fresh, valuable perspectives and offers our customers truly unique products,” says Anniina Isokangas, CEO and entrepreneur of PaaPii Design.

Natural Forms and Dark Tones in Unisex sized Clothing
Designer Teija Vartiainen is known for her ability to combine artistic expression with everyday aesthetics. Created in collaboration with Finsket, the Teija Vartiainen x Finsket collection plays with natural forms and deep, dark tones. The range includes organic cotton Pohja sweatshirts and Alku T-shirts, featuring the Basaltti and Cervus Dybowskii patterns that reflect curiosity and the joy of discovery.
“I hope that the patterns I design inspire people to nurture the childlike curiosity that exists within all of us to some degree. Through my designs, I aim to share that same sense of exploration and discovery that I experience when delving into things that fascinate me and that lie at the heart of my creative work,” Teija Vartiainen explains.
